(Post from week of November 25, 2010)
It feels like a slumber party here at cpmc hospital these last two nights. I get to have Colin with me and kirra by my side in her bassinet. All we do is watch her sleep, listen to her squeaks, meows, screeching and various breathing sounds. And stay up all day and night talking about our birth experience. It's impossible for me to sleep with so much on my mind.
Between the nurses coming in to check me, eating horrible hospital food, reading email and Facebook posts, and nursing baby K, I hardly have time to take care of myself. That's why its good we are at the hospital - I need to heal and learn about how to heal quickly, so having nurses around to give me medicine for my cramps and other pains is probably good for me. Plus everything comes to me; food, pediatricians, nurses, various hospital discharge paperwork people, etc.
I have a newborn human being and what am I supposed to do with her when I take her home?? I can hardly even believe I get to take her home now. I hadn't seen Colin with a newborn like.. ever. And me myself I used to babysit but when I was a teenager. My own godsons I only see/saw when I would visit so cal. But a little baby to care for every day! What I've been waiting for and hoping for over these last 2 years as Colin and I have been trying to get pregnant. It's finally come, our time to take home our newest family member. And to have her meet Gus and really get to know this bundle of joy we've been loving these last 9 months.
