The Jetsetter

Kirra's first flight was a 5 hour (turned 8 hour) from SFO to JFK - New York. Colin and I were so busy packing and getting Kirra ready for our Red Eye flight that was supposed to leave at 10:30pm that we did not bother checking our flight status. After our shuttle dropped us off at the terminal we learned the flight was 3 hours delayed! I was planning on having Kirra sleep during waiting and boarding time, through most of the flight, since she's been sleeping almost through the night these days- maybe waking up at 3 or 4am for a feeding, but we ended up just having her sleep at the Gate. Through the rest of the flight Kirra was a pretty good traveler. She did have her bouts of delirious zombie groans during the tail end of her wakefulness stage (when she was ready to sleep again), but it is a little difficult to rock her and get that soothing motion when she's strapped to me in an Ergo Carrier and I'm sitting in the middle seat between a sleeping stranger and Colin.

We arrived in Brooklyn to a very happy Grandma and Pop Bogart, and refreshed and recently returned from Indonesia for two years Tante Gillian.

We expected New York in June to be blistering hot. Humid, sticky hot. I was worried we didn't have enough 'hot clothes' for Kirra because pretty much all this time we've had Kirra in leggings, long sleeves and hoodies all day and during her sleepy times. Well, we couldn't swaddle her in this heat! Luckily it was not blistering hot- we had a cooler change in weather this week due to a storm. But still, baby Kirra had her first naps and night times sleeping in just a onesie. I think we even used baby powder to soak up that sticky baby butt sweat. Who ever uses baby powder in San Francisco?? I have three tubs of it- come and take it!

We had a reunion BBQ where Bogarts and Tsangs came in to meet the new baby Bogart, and also to welcome Gillian after two years living and volunteering in Indonesia. What a generous heart she has.
Kirra was a ham with everyone- sharing her giggles and smiles with everyone. She let anyone hold her- it was a game of Pass The Baby all day!
