Snow Much Fun

We took the kids to the snow at Truckee, just south of Lake Tahoe by Donner Pass. Our friends Russ and Marji, with their 4.5 month old baby Aria, invited us to stay at a beautiful custom house of their friend's. It was a gorgeous house and we were plenty cozy.

Kirra and Liam played in the snow booth days that we stayed at the house. We made a snowman and sledded around with Kirra. I bought a while new snow outfit for this trip, which is kind of silly seeing as we might now get very many uses this season. But at least Liam will be able to wear it when he is 2 years old. In fact he wore kirras 18M snowsuit we got handed down from the Schulz family (Mel and Stefan).

Kirra was happy that she got to sleep in bed with colin, while we kept Liam in a separate room in the pack n play. I ended up sleeping in that room with him because he woke so many times in the night both nights and I had to feed him bottles of formula . Thankfully I planned ahead and prepared a couple bottles w hot water in a thermos on those nights. Its too far to go all the way up to the kitchen to measure everything and heat up water in the microwave.

Colin made breakfast both mornings while Russ cooked a Thai Curry noodle dish with veggies and scallops. We dis veg out a lot (boys took the car search for powder snow to plow through)(or they spent nights playing ping pong + beer ). We got to spend time with Baby Aria, whom we learned is not an easy sleeper. She had been still in the cosleeper bassinet and they were just starting to have her sleep in her own room/crib.

Oh the sleep difficulty stage. I do NOT miss that at all. It occupied all my thoughts and wakeful days and sleeping/sleepless nights trying to figure out how to solve Liams sleep issues. Thankfully by 6 months old Liam slept linger at night and during his 2 naps and finally started drinking more milk during feeding sessions and not needing as many night feeds. But I told them to be hopeful BC at least by 6 most Aria will need to learn how to put herself to sleep, or to cry on her own in her crib solo.
